Skyfire Beta for Windows Mobile Devices

Signing up for the Skyfire Beta on a Windows Mobile Device
The latest version of the Skyfire browser for touchscreen and non-touchscreen devices requires Windows Mobile 5 or 6. (VGA Windows Mobile devices are not yet supported)
The following steps describe how to install Skyfire on a touchscreen device. The same steps apply for installing Skyfire on a non-touchscreen device.
Note: Before beginning to install Skyfire, we recommend that you first stop all processes currently running on your device. To do this, select Start | Settings and click on the System tab. Then select Memory, select the Running Programs tab and select Stop All.
To install Skyfire on a Windows Mobile device:
1. Go to www.skyfire.com.
The Skyfire website homepage is displayed.

2. Click on the "Get Skyfire Now!" link at the top of the page or on the "Get it Now!" button.
The Sign up for Skyfire Open Beta page is displayed.

3. Enter the following information:
- Your name
- Your email address
(This is your unique Skyfire ID and cannot be changed) - Confirm your email address
- Your mobile phone number
5. Click Submit.
Shortly, you will receive two communications from Skyfire:
- An SMS containing the link to download the Skyfire beta. Read below for the steps required to install Skyfire from an SMS message.
- An email confirmation of your sign-up and containing the link to download the Skyfire beta. See Installing Skyfire from our email with the PC download link for the steps required to install Skyfire from an email message.
Installing Skyfire from our SMS with Over-the-Air Download Link
To install Skyfire from our SMS message:
1. On your device, open the SMS message from Skyfire.

2. Click on the link provided in the SMS message to confirm your registration.
The Download Skyfire Now page is displayed. You are told which type of device has been detected – touchscreen or non-touchscreen. If this is not the type of device you are using, click the Change my phone type link. You will be brought to a Download Skyfire Now page on which you can select the correct device type.

3. Enter a password, and then confirm it.
4. Click Submit.
An Internet Explorer warning may be displayed.

5. Select Yes to continue.
The Download Skyfire Now page is displayed.

6. Click on the link to download Skyfire.
A Download dialog box is displayed. Leave the Open file after download box checked.
7. Click Yes to download the file now.
You are asked to choose a location to install the browser. You can install directly to the device or to a storage card. We strongly recommend that you install to the device, which is the default selection.

8. When you have chosen an install location, select "Install".
The next screen allows you to install the Skyfire Home Screen Search bar. This option adds a Skyfire widget to your Windows Mobile Today screen and allows you to enter URL"s or Search terms without first starting Skyfire. Leave this option selected to see this feature in action.

9. Select Next.
Skyfire is now installed.
10. Select Launch.
The Skyfire beta evaluation agreement page is displayed.

11. Click Accept to indicate your acceptance of the license agreement.
A data usage charges warning is displayed. This warning is only displayed during initial setup, it will not appear when you next launch Skyfire.

12. Click OK.
You are asked to enter your email address and password. This step is required only during initial setup, it will not appear when you next launch Skyfire.

13. When you have entered your email address and password, click Enter.
After a short loading period, the Skyfire start page is displayed.

Welcome to Skyfire!
Next time, when you launch Skyfire, you will go straight to the Skyfire Start Page. You may be asked whether you want Skyfire as your default browser.
