Q: What phones does Skyfire run on? What countries?
A: Currently, Skyfire runs on two platforms: Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 (3rd & 5th edition).

Windows Mobile phones

Skyfire requires Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 or 6, and 6.x
Both touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones are supported.

The list above is just a sampling of popular Windows Mobile phones that Skyfire runs on. Verified means we've tested Skyfire on these phones. Skyfire is certainly not limited to these phones. Nokia/Symbian phones

Requires Symbian Series 60, 3rd or 5th edition phones.

Skyfire will NOT run on the following Symbian phones

• N80, N90, E60 (resolution not supported)
• Symbian Series S60 (2nd edition)
• Samsung and LG Symbian phones
• UIQ

Skyfire will run via Wi-Fi, however a data plan is recommended.

Q: Can I use Skyfire where I live?
A: Currently, Skyfire focuses on the US, Canada, and UK markets. Although you might be able to use Skyfire outside the US, Canada and UK, our focus is providing the best user experience for our active countries. Using Skyfire outside these countries is at your own discretion. Please accept that we are unable to provide service guarantees of any kind outside of these countries, and our ability to provide user support outside of our active countries is limited. However, once you create an account in Skyfire, you are able to participate in our User Forum. The User Forum serves as a useful community tool for users in active and non-active countries to share experiences and troubleshooting tips.

Q: I have a Windows Mobile PDA device that is not a phone. Can I use Skyfire?
A: Skyfire runs only on Windows Mobile devices that support phone functions. For example, it is not available for non-phone Pocket PC phones.

Q: My phone is not a Windows Mobile or Nokia/Symbian phone. When can I expect to use Skyfire?
A: We are working to bring Skyfire to more phones and countries. However, we are not commenting on other platforms, countries or timeframes. To stay up to date, please subscribe to our blog, join us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter.

People often ask if Skyfire will run on these phones...

• Android: An important platform that we are keeping our eye on.
• Apple iPhone: Nope. Still waiting for a call from Steve...
• Blackberry: Currently in private alpha. We will provide an update at a later date.
• Palm OS phone: Palm OS phones are not supported, but Windows Mobile phones offered by Palm, such as certain Treo or the Palm Pro models, are fully supported.
• Palm Pre: An impressive phone, and we're keeping our eye on it.
• Samsung Instinct: This phone is not a Windows Mobile phone and will not run Skyfirre.
• Other Symbian phones: We are concentrating on the Symbian S60 phones. We have no plans to support Symbian S40 or S60 (2nd edition), or UIQ phones anytime soon.
• Windows Mobile 2003 Phones: The earliest version of Windows Mobile that we support is version 5. We do not have plans to support the earlier versions.
• Mobile and feature phones: Skyfire will not run on standard mobile or feature phones such as the Motorola Razr, Samsung Glyde and other lower-end phones.

Q: What is the minimum screen resolution that Skyfire will work on?
A: 240x240 is the minimum screen resolution that Skyfire requires in order to perform properly.

Q: Is Skyfire free? Are there any costs associated with getting or using Skyfire?
A: Skyfire is a free downloadable mobile browser. Skyfire does not charge for the download or use of Skyfire. However your mobile operator or carrier WILL charge you for data costs associated with using Skyfire over their networks. We highly recommend that you have an unlimited data plan. Those costs are between you and your carrier.

Q: Is the connection between Skyfire services and my phone secure?
A: The connection between Skyfire and the phone is encrypted. We are using industry standard and proven (SSL) encryption technology to ensure the security and integrity of the data exchanged between the client and server.

Q: Is my privacy protected on Skyfire?
A: Absolutely - we take your privacy very seriously. You can read about our privacy policy on our web site at http://www.skyfire.com/about/privacy-and-security. We do not store usernames and passwords, only session information and cookies. For instance, when you log into Yahoo, you provide username and password, and Skyfire passes this through to Yahoo and gets back a cookie. The original username and password are not stored.

Technically we hold cookies and history in our data center, since this is how Skyfire works as server assisted browsing. Without this, you would not be able to see any history and would have to log into web sites any time you navigate there. You can always clear your cookies and history by going to "Menu > Settings > Advanced Options" and clear your cookies and/or history.
